The original designer - Who is George Nelson ?
Born in Connecticut in 1908, George Nelson was one of the founders of the American Modernist movement, and a key proponent of revolutionary concepts including modular storage systems, pedestrian city malls and L-shaped desks. George Nelson spent his pre-design years studying and writing about architecture, including a sting as Editor of Architectural Forum magazine. Part of a generation of architects who moved into product, graphic, industrial and interior design, his innovative designs helped shape the modernist design era and have made their way into the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
