A double crimp features two crimping surfaces. Firstly, an inner crimping ring which is directly attached to the spade lug, this crimps to the exposed cable core. Secondly the outer crimping ring secures both the cable core and outer sheath to the crimp terminal. This results is a vastly more reliable connection.
