Hans Wegner designed over 500 chairs in his lifetime, more than 100 of which went into mass production. Along with Arne Jacobsen, he is hailed as one of the designers instrumental in popularising mid-centruy Danish design.

The original design of this chair won an award at the IMFF Cologne in 2006, 46 years after it was originally designed, making it a stylistic mainstay for over four decades.
