Isamu Noguchi (1904 – 1988)
Japanese born designer Isamu Noguchi spent his career experimenting how he might create objects that provide form for the negative space around it. This Zen-like concept is what propelled Noguchi to design his greatest triumphs, like his fluidly organic shaped coffee table series.
Noguchi designed in a wide variety of mediums for an even broader span of environments around the globe. From his work designing interior gardens, theatres, large scale fountains, lighting, exterior installations and of course furniture, Isamu Noguchi always worked on creating what he described as “lived spaces”: the same negative space, although activated, with the life of his designs.
